Have a Look Around

Join us for Walk Around the City (5)

Map

Now we proceed to the Königsstraße, Kassel’s pedestrian precinct. Before reaching the Königsplatz (14.) we take time to glance to our left at the Druselturm (13.), one of the few historical buildings in the city centre that suffered no damage during the Second World War.

Die Fremden Von Thomas Schuette We continue walking towards Friedrichsplatz and cast our eyes upwards to the left. On the edge of a roof above a porch supported by Doric columns a number of figures stand out. This work is also one “left over” from a documenta exhibition. Entitled "Die Fremden" (The Strangers), the figures were placed there by Thomas Schütte on the occasion of the documenta IX. In the background we catch a glimpse of the Fridericianum Museum, one of the most interesting buildings in the city.

Louis Spohr We continue walking along the Königsstraße past Friedrichsplatz (15.), until we see on the right-hand side between groups of houses the statue of Louis Spohr (16.) which dominates the Opernplatz.

Rathaus We continue walking straight on down the Königsstraße. Before ending up at the starting point of our little tour of the city we have a quick look at the lovely façade of the Kasseler Rathaus (17.)/town hall.

We would like to extend a warm invitation to all our visitors to come and experience this virtual tour in the real world and look forward to welcoming you to one of our many different types of tours in Kassel.
